Is there any circumstance in which this guy won't get at least prison for life or the death penalty for this pre-meditated murder?
Reminds me of Samuel L. Jackson in "A Time to Kill".

I hope the guy goes to jail for a long, long time. He's an officer of the court, he should know not to take justice into his own hands. He should also know that children don't always tell the truth.

Except in that story there was some pretty strong evidence that the scum who did that to his little girl were, in fact, guilty.
Edington "seemed like a computer geek or something. He was not anybody you would ever feel you were threatened by."

He is rich, a lawyer, and most importantly, White, which rounds him out very well.
He will get away with it.

Why would you assume a 29-year-old attorney is rich?

He's a patent attorney and he went to schools that you would only go to if they were giving you free rides.

Poor people can't post 1 million dollars bail.

A patent attorney that green doesn't make a ton (indeed, relatively few attorneys are wealthy), and your assumptions about his schools are more or less completely arbitrary. Fordham is a good, not stellar, law school, and attracts bright applicants who expect to pay. There are very very few free rides given to law schools. Most people will go to the best school they can get into, period.

I have 3 kids and i dont know about the rest of you but when my kids were 2 they could bearly talk, much less say. "Mommy that bad man next door touched me".
so now mr lawyer acting on emotion kills guy next door and he will now get to watch his daughter grow up from behind a 1 inch piece of glass as she comes to visit him in prison.
way to go buddy.

You're right, having gone to those schools, he probably wouldn't be making much money. His firm probably bailed him out.
As far as which law school to select, you're right. But when you get into the top 5, is better really that much better? A friend of mine back in school got into HLS and Columbia, but Columbia offered him a full ride with stipend. He still chose HLS, costing his dad nearly $200k all said.

Father is a moron. Threw away his own life, and his family for "justice."
Sad story. He will get at least several years in prison.
