When I got home from class tonight, I found out that my dad had been taken to the ER earlyer in the day from kindey stones :(.... they have been a problem for him in the past couple of years.. i just hope that they aren't coming back again. He lost his mom when he was 8 from kidney related problems and then his dad when he was 16. It definlty seems to be a genetic problem.. i just really hope that he doesnt pass it down to me :(... hes home now and everything is fine.. hopefully these will pass and not cause any serious health problems

Same thing I was thinking before posting.

My father had kidney stones when he was in the airforce, I don't know any more details other than that its painful.

I didn't know it was genetic, sorry to hear.

Yeah, you don't have to pass them out though. My dad had one one time, they had some kind of tiny basket that they went in and took it out with. Never have seen him in so much pain though as that night.

He told me that is God's equal to men as childbirth.

Public Service Announcement:

Be sure to drink enough water every day.

I've had a kidney stone, ureter stent, lithotripsy, and the dreaded foley catheter X2...

Greatest part was urinating blood for a day after the lithotripsy:(

if they can't disinigrate it with a laser then he should be looking forward to some of the most intense pain he's ever felt. but then he should be fine :)

maybe he'll hook up with some oxycontin. guess that's the only plus side to the situation.

after i had my kidney stone i started drinking a ton of water. They are th emost painful thing ever. Personally, it hurt worse when it broke off my kidney and started going down to the bladder. It must have gotten stuck or something, because it felt like someone stabbing me. Had to go to the ER and get Percocet. :D

I have no idea what most of those are, but just reading those names makes it look painful.

i have had them twice. Usually after starting a severe workout regiment. Drink Water. I think I got Darvocet to ease the pain. Didn't seem to really help though. I just kept trying to remove the invisible knife from my right side all night.
