Gramps doesn't know that. Houston could have been faking it to lure Gramps in and stab him or shoot him at close range.

Wasn't Gramps on Houstons property? According to Google maps, this was in a rural area.

No it isn't but she did not ask her father to come over either.

From the article, "According to a probable cause statement, Ball thought he heard Houston and his daughter, Kristy Ball, arguing while he was on the phone with Kristy..."

The grandfather "invited" himself over, brought a gun and now the BF is dead, all because Grandpa "thought" she was arguing with her BF.

don't matter. you don't need permission to go see if a family member is ok. I wouldn't convict him ont hat at all.

it's the other stuff that may get him convicted. but the fact he went over (even armed) mans jack shit. he thought she was getting beatup and went over.

I never said he should be convicted because he went over to the house; what I was saying is that, given the info we have, him going over there with a gun is an issue.

Different environments; I was raised that you call ahead to visit or check up on someone, even a relative. Were I the father of a 37 year old daughter I would ask if she wanted me over.

No, read the article. He thought he heard them arguing; not that he thought she was getting beat up.

Just because a person has a right to carry a gun doesn't mean they should in any/all circumstances.

i agree to a point #1 i kinda disagree. IF i thought my daughter was in danger and getting hurt damn right i would be over.

I am not sure 100% either way though. both made some mistakes. the boyfriend shouldn't have continued to commit battery on his daughter. then he hit the windshield. Teh an continued to escalate the violence when the old man didn't exit the vehicle.

Battery? That is not what was happening here. He wasn't pushing her to hurt her, he wanted her to get out of his way. Punching the windshield is kinda out there though, but the old guy took this to a level it probably would have never gotten to. I can't say if this is a good shoot or bad, need a few more details.

If he had to drive there, a quick phone call to the police, they would have been there much quicker. He had no right to arm himself and drive some place else to protect anyone without calling the cops.

Sounds like boyfriend and father are idiots imo. Got into a pissing contest and stupidity reigned supreme with boyfriend lying in a puddle of his own blood.

that description is kinda weird.

I think I need a real time display of incidents using the Source engine.

Men. The dead guy doesn't sound like a very nice guy and he was the escalator making all sorts of threatening movements. I think this guy will get off with just probation,
