Police: Baby Wouldn't Bend Her Legs During Diaper Change

KEENESBURG, Colo. -- A Keenesburg father has been arrested and accused of breaking both legs of his 8-month-old daughter because she wouldn't bend her legs while he tried to change her diaper, police said.

Justin Brandon Roth, 21, is being held on a felony child abuse charge.
Court records indicate his family said he has "anger issues," according to the Greeley Tribune. Roth is being held on $100,000 bond.

The incident occurred Saturday night at the Roth house north of Keenesburg. The girl's mother told sheriff's deputies that she left the girl with her husband on Saturday night when she went to work.

The injuries were not found by the mother until the Sunday morning when she tried to change the baby's diaper. The girl cried when she was touched, and her legs wouldn't bend.

The mother called her pediatrician, who told her to take the baby to Children's Hospital in Denver. There, doctors said the baby suffered two leg fractures, according to the Weld County Sheriff's Office. The baby also had numerous bruises to her legs, collar bone, ribs and jaw.

Roth later told deputies that he didn't know how the girl was injured.

“He then said that while baby-sitting she started crying so he started to change (the baby's) diaper. She straightened her legs and would not bend them. Justin admitted that this was frustrating and that he might have applied more force to her legs than he intended,” according to court affidavits obtained by the Greeley Tribune.

Roth was arrested Saturday and booked into the Weld County Jail.

Guy looks like a winner as well. Hope he loses his parental rights. Hope the mother is not as bad, but since she married him I doubt it.

Problem is it is these guys that never seem to bother to use birth control. They arent mature enough for the responsibility of children, but to immature to prevent it. Likely he is abusive to his wife as well. Unfortunately these things come into our ER all the time. It's a whole sordid mess, usually there is disfunctional issues for generations. I really don't envy Children and Youth Services, they have to stay calm and respectfull to people that really dont deserve respect.

Alright, as a dad having gone through 4 kids - yeah, the whole diaper change thing can be rough (my kids were never especially fond of it). So I know the whole locked-legs thing, and it can get frustrating. But to use enough force to BREAK a child's legs? Even an infant? God damn! That was intentional. This man is abusive thru and thru. No way he should ever be around kids.

What's worse is that the mother and grandmother acknowledged his anger issues, and still left the kid with him. She needs some help herself.

I hear you there...I have 3 and I'm glad that diaper changing hasn't been an anger issue

Wow brutal. I say they break his legs, strap him real good in a wheelchair, and throw him down a hill on a very cold winter night very late when nobody is around. He can figure out the rest from there.

Wife send me this story since today is first day I'm home alone with the baby. I can't imagine how you could hurt someone so helpless.

I can completely understand the frustration of raising kids especially when you don't get a good night's rest - the smallest things/problems can set you off very easily - but hell, not to the point of bruising and breaking bones. He'll get what's coming to him - once he's in jail and they find out why he's there - he won't last very long...

We just need to round all these people up in a big jumbo aircraft and then bomb people with them or drop them into the ocean for shark food.
