DAA Modem Module

I'm looking for some information on a DAA modem. It seems to be somewhat similar to an AMR modem. That is, its just a riser that interfaces to the motherboard. However, I haven't been able to find hardly anything about it on the net. The most luck I've had is this site: http://www.amptron.com/html/accessories_mb.html

I'm looking to buy one for a friend. His machine came from surplus at a local middle school; eg. built as cheap and minimal as possible. The modem got fried during a recent thunderstorm. Can anyone tell me somewhere good to pick one up and just some general information about it?

Also, is it possible that not only the card, but the part of the modem on the motherboard was fried as well?

You would be better off to forget the DAA setup (

) <------- most likely.. Who made the board anyway? motherboards.org has an IDer setup( sometimes good help sometimes not).. best to get another known good modem and test the board's ISA or PCI slot. Good luck Make sure you Remove from Device Manager any modem(or other card you plan to remove) you pull out before you physically pull it out
