Coming from someone who never read the book... It was ok. It kept my attetion. I wasn't bored. Not that great but not bad either. Definitely not Ron Howard's or Tom Hank's best movie but worth the matenee price of admission.

Well, just saw it before the weekend. Opening day here in the Philippines... and the only remaining tickets when my GF got them were 3AM. The cinemas extended business hours just to accomodate the sheer number of people. At one point we even thought of auctioning off our tickets... :D (Which might have worked, really)
Anyway, I never read the book. My GF has and she dragged into that 12AM screening. I must say the movie didn't disappoint me as much as i expected to. I did like it but wasn't worth the hassle and the hype. My GF disliked it more than i did.

My two cents.

200+ million worldwide...not bad ;)

I didn't read the book but it was an entertaining. MI3 got around a 70% tomato rating from the critics and I wouldnt consider that movie to be any better than this one.

The movie just rushed through everything...but then again it was already long enough. It's just tought to translate onscreen.

I thought Hank's performance was horrible. I am a fan of his but he was stonish throughout the movie, like he wasn't sure how to be this character. His delivery was flat, he had very little facial expression, and didn't have any life to him. But I liked the movie.

yeah, pretty much everyone's characters (except for ian mckellen's) seemed to be flat and lifeless. at 2.5 hrs, my gf and i felt it was an excruciatingly soul-crushing exercise to stay awake during the movie.

i generally like tom hanks' movies, but this one was a poor fit for him =(
