they've officially managed to confuse me. In 2008, what is going to be the card to get? Is there any card coming out that is the definite performance king?

It'll be the D9E. The E stands for Enthusiast, which is the highest category in Nvidia's naming scheme. The "P" in D9P I'm going to assume stands for Performance, which is below Enthusiast (I think). I dunno what the GX2 stands for... I think it might denote a dual card solution?

well i heard ati is making a r680 dual gpu board with 1gb memory, and that nV will be realeasing a g92/g98/D9E to compete. I agree that the D9E should be the best come late january, but does anyone have any definite info on that?

Wasnt D8E originally for the G80? The g92 was just a refresh. The GX- x no longer corresponds to generation

How would we know? Until the cards are out and 2008 has ended, it's all speculation.

G92-200 or the 65nm 8800GT/8800GTs are called D8P. There's supposed to be a new high on called G92-300 or D8E coming in January. I don't see how they are going to simply skip that release and just go to the next generation D9E, unless we are talking about January 2009 here.
