D975XBX2 / E8500 combination

Am about to acquire an E8500 cpu and was thinking of pairing it with my old D975XBX2 board. Anyone ever tried OC'ing this combination? Were the results any good? Just trying to save money on a new mobo. Or should I just head straight for a P45 board?

Check the website, I'd be concerned the power management of the older board will hinder overclocking. Those 8500's are plenty fast and have a nice high multi so squeezing that last bit to get you to 4 isn't too terribly taxing when you consider that lots of mobos break the 500 fsb barrier now adays. i'd consider shopping for a decent p45 or even keeping your eyes peeled for deals on x48 boards. cheers!

they are not compatible. I cannot put an E8400 on my Bad Axe 2 board and the 8500 is similar.
