this one's a long shot, and i'll probably hv to send it to intel for repairs(or replacement), but that's gonna take time, and time's what i dont have. so here it is..

i've got an intel D865GBF that has stopped turning on. the green LED near the SATA connectors still does turn on. but nothing happens when i press the power switch.

now, this didnt happen all of a sudden. it started the night before. what happened intially was that when i pressed the power switch, the fans(cpu and case) would run for 2-3 seconds, then die down. i tried it again a couple of times agin, but still nothing happened. then i pressed the power switch rapidly 6-7 times and whoa! it did turn on...

the next morning, the same thing happened. but, this time the fans didnt run for 2-3 seconds, rather it was only for a second or so. and this time that trick of pressing the power switch rapidly didnt work either. by noon, the fans didnt even start, but that green led was still glowing. and its glowing even now.

at first i thought the problem was with the supply, but it is ok. it did run another machine. and this mobo didnt run on another power supply either. the processor and RAM are working too. so the problem is only with the mobo (the way this thing happened, i think it might be some capacitor??). the intel dealer says it will take a fortnight before it is repaired(or replaced). but its too long. still, i know that there's hardly anyting i can do...or maybe i can. that's why i m asking u guys...plz tell me if theres anything at all i can do. i can do soldering etc, although i dont think i will ever try that on my mobo. still, i m hoping something can be done. any help??
