D500 weight conspiracy

My GF is bent on getting a powerbook based on weight (5.4lb), and screen size (15in)

I have been trying to convince her to get a Dell based on better perf, ease of support (for me), and lower price. Most of the Dells are either large bricks (8+ lb) or have tiny 12" screens. The only one coming near the requirements is the new centrino series (500m or D500)

Herein comes the conspiracy: Dell says the D500 "starts at 4.8lb with 4-cell battery and no CDROM" (here) The standard config includes a 6-cell battery and a CDROM/ CDRW. Continuing in the conspiracy spirit, Dell witholds the weight info on the CDRW page (here)

Does anyone know the weight of a D500/500m with the standard 6-cell battery and a CDRW? Please guys, I really don't want to pay out the $$ for the powerbook...

As a former owner of a D600 series notebook, I can say with certainty that a D500 or 600 weighs about 5.5 lbs with optical drive and 6-cell battery.

I've been curious why Dell lists the 500m/D500 as a shade heavier than the 600m/D600. And a shade thicker too. They look exactly the same to me.
