having a random problem with my dell d500

usually, when i close the screen (i have it set to do nothing in power options) the screen just goes off, then returns as soon as i open it again

but every now and then, i'll close it, and when i open it, the screen will remain blank....
pushing the fn+lcd/crt key does nothing
and i didn't change anything in power options

anyone have any clues?

Friend of mine has a laptop. When he closes it, the screen turns off and stays off. When he opens it back up, he turns the screen back on by hitting the power button. That's about all I know.... sorry.
 
sounds like something specific to that laptop....hitting the power button when i open it just puts it in hibernate like i've specified
