D50 lens question

I am about to pull the trigger on a D50 package. This package actually. I was wondering if this is a good beginner lens or should I drop a bit more cash for a different package with a better lens? This is my first DSLR/SLR so any help would be cool....

If I was starting out in C or N, I would get the body only with these lenses:

They are often overlooked but very good glass.

I am not familiar with that lens. I got a 50mm prime and the kit lens and am pretty happy with both. The 50mm prime is about 100 and is good for low light. It is also very sharp.

I think I will still get that package noted above as $549 is pretty close to what you pay for the body alone(unless you go the ebay route). Then I can add the lenses that you recommended later...
