Hi all
I just bought a flight sim trainer called FMS. After install, upon start, it gives the above error message. Any idea whats going on?
Thanks!

How do you install it? I downloaded from that link, there are something like 120 seperate versions in that file, with no easy way to install. I'm lost on this!

I installed the program, dowloaded all the dx versions in that link. There is no "install" option. Do I put them in a certain directory or something?

Thanks

That may have worked. Still checking it out.
I read all that long ago, but it looked dodgy, kind of like the "codec" help sites, which are often fronts for something else. If this is a legit easy issue, why is there no official Windows patch?

d3drm.dll is d3d retained mode, which is something Microsoft discountinued in like Direct X 7 and they never actively developed on past Direct X version 3. It was their "vertex" (or 3d to 2d conversion) library for Direct3D (which was just a rasterizer at the time.)

The reason it's no longer in DirectX is because it was discontinued. I can't believe any software is still out there that uses it.

You could download DirectX version 7 (if you can find it) runtime libraries and see if its in there, but you may have to go back to an even earlier version. Dunno if that would screw up any current DX installation though.

Thanks for the reply.
I think its working OK now. Just have to get it to recognize my transmitter now. This program is apparently currently in use by thousands and thousands of people. It came bundled with my new RC helicopter, which is a new model as of about a year ago.
