Rage Underground on their opening page has info about a 30% performance increase by dll file.

Xenomorph_pl over in the forums of Rage3D has come up with a great tweak for D3D performance in Win2k. Personally I am seeing roughly a 30 to 35% increase and no ill effects for the last day so I thought I would post =D

1. Install DX8a
2. Download d3dim700.dll.
3. Copy the above dll to c:\winnt\system32\dllcache and c:\winnt\system32(You may have to "unhide" your protected system files in order to overwrite this file)
4. Windows 2000 will attempt to recover the previous version of this file, press cancel and then yes to keep the new version.
5. Reboot
6. Try anything that has a lot of T&L and/or high polygon count.
Personally I'am really enjoying the boost!
