I have been working on a new cruncher, but the delays keep coming. Finally got the $$ and approval from the wife for this monster:

AMD Opteron 250 #1
AMD Opteron 250 #2
MSI K8T Master2-FAR Motherboard w/MSI heatsinks
Corsair TwinX1024RE-3200LL 2x512 PC3200 ECC REG Memory
Western Digital 74GB SATA 10000RPM Raptor HD #1
Western Digital 74GB SATA 10000RPM Raptor HD #2
Creative Audigy 2 Platinum ZS
Sony 16x DVD-ROM
Sony 52x/32x/52x CD-RW
Thermaltake 550W Silent Power
Antec P160 Aluminum Case
MS Desktop Wireless Elite Keyboard/Mouse
Klipsch 5.1 Speakers
Hitachi 22" CRT
ATI RADEON 9800XT 256MB Video Card (x800 XT Platinum coming hopefully next week)
120mm Case fans x 2

Had to exchange P160 case for SLK3700 since the MB doesn't fit on the tray. Then, that 550W supply is really a 480W with 550W peak power. The box says nothing about 480W anywhere. Only the label on the side of the actual supply says 480W. How deceptive of Thermaltake. I exchanged that for a PCMCIS 550W (665W peak) supply with SSI connectors for this board, even though it works with regular ATX.

The first time I turned it on, I went to the BIOS to disable onboard sound. Before I could do anything, the screen started artifacting. Then big blocks and more blocks and everything turned blocks and faded out. The monitor went to standby. Tried rebooting. Tried a NVidia FX 5200. Tried A NVidia GF4 TI4800. Tried a PCI Diamond Stealth. Tried an Antec TruePower 550W supply. Everything turns on but the monitor stays in power save. Hooked monitor to laptop and it works fine. Unplugged everything. Reattached vid card, memory, cpu's, and reset BIOS. Still no video. Now waiting on RMA that will probably take 2 weeks turnaround. Really frustrated now.
