D2OL and DBench

Hey, Does any body have a vesion of DBench with a large canidate instead of the the default small one in DBench 1.0R2? Reason i'm asking is my 800Mhz Duron overclocked 1.1Ghz, reports a crunch time of 432 seconds. And my P4 1.5 Ghz reports a slower time of 558 seconds, with the new D2OL update its got another second slower. I'm running XP Pro on the Duron and XP Home on the P4. Its funny it seems to me that my P4 is the faster cruncher than my Duron, but the numbers say say no. Maybe the P4 is faster with a large canidate's and the Duron is quicker with small canidates...Any body have the same results?😕
 
I'm not running Linux so I cannot speak for DBench results but if you examine the core differences between the Intel & AMD's as far as how they scale and handle multiple threads you can see the Intel would have a slight edge on the larger process candidates. If you were running an AMD XP you would see that Intel edge dissappear though 😀 😛 😎
 
Looks like maybe D2OL people should cycle trade their P4s to SETI. 🙂 In case people have forgotten, cycle trading means you run the other project (SETI) for another TeAm member, and they run your project (D2OL) for you.
 
I've noticed that as well, my XP 1800+ is doing alomost double the amount a P4 1.7GHz is doing. One question is the Linux client CLI or GUI? If its CLI I have more XPs at my disposal in trade for a nicely O/C's P4 as long as they produce Wu's under 3 hrs... 😉

That's a sign of a memory chip stability or reliability problem not a problem with the P4. SETI requires absolute perfect memory timings.

 
Hey do you know if there's fact to rumors that the Linux Distro is faster than the Windows Distro on WinXP Pro? I've been tempted to to Reinstall Linux Mandrake 8.0 Bluebird back and run the D2OL Linux client. I emailed D2OL and they said they didn't know if Linux was faster than Windows Xp..
 
Hmmmmm....P4 1.8 at work w/ 1gb ram runs about the same as my xp1800 w/ 512mb ram.

Then again, I do have a tendency to play some games on the amd at home 🙂.
 
I spoke with someone from another team who is running his on Linux and he has several of the top 10 nodes in the world stats. He states his are only Tualatin 1.3 and they are blowing away the windows machines.
