D2 not running in XP

Search is broken...still... and I made a topic about this a while back. So I ask again, how do you get Diablo 2 LOD to run in XP? I have DEP off for it, but it crashes to desktop.
 
i just installed diablo 2 (mutiplayer or full) install...then put in my lod cd and installed it, then updated to 1.11...no problems in xp.
 
Maybe try going to the executable properties and setting it to run in a compatibility mode for a different version of windows?
 
Do you mean Vista? IIRC, there is an incompatibility problem with D2 and Vista, as well as a fix for it. However, D2 worked fine on my XP comp without any extra assistance.

Worked... I used to run it through the data execution process in XP. Worked fairly well, but runs better in compatibility mode.
