First off, to n00bs of DDing: It is legal in most states.

Well.... I haven't seen any dumpster diving threads here so far, so I might as well start one.

What have you found?

What are your favorite places to go? (Unless you don't wanna give out your secret place 😀)

Pics?

never been diving before, but on Monday I walked outside of my apartment complex about midnight to find a fridge on the curb, and when I opened it smelled horrible, nothing a little bleach and water couldn't fix, and now i don't have to get off the couch to get a cold beer.

Dumpster Diving is looking inside a dumpster for good stuff that the sotre threw away because they couldn't sell or thought was broken.

I forget the exact terms, but since the store (or person) showed a disassociation to the items (throwing them in a dumpster) they are then open to the public. (even if the dumpster is on their property)

I haven't done it recently. Since we live in a house, there are no shared dumpsters.

i live in a college town. At the end of the year i usually go hit the dorms/apartments around the campus. you would be suprised what the college kids throw away.

Well, I never actually looked in a dumpster, but did get some good stuff out of peoples garbages before. A long time ago I found an epson printer in somones garbage, 5 minute fix and it worked, still have it today. Another thing was my cousins neighbor tried to build a computer, something was broken, got frustrated and booted it to the end of the driveway! I managed to snag the motherboard & cpu (dead), an AWE64, Matrox G200 8MB, and some other stuff. At the time this stuff was still very expensive! Some people are so stupid.

Thread hijacking? What'd you say?

So is every thread on the boards going to be hijacked in some way or another. This seems to be the theme of the hour. 😛
