D@mmit! Still get sound glitches with SB Live Platinum.

Who also gets this?

This is with digital output. With heavy gaming I get sound dropouts every so often. Stuck a heatsink on it and I thought I eliminated it, but no, it's still there, albeit less frequently.

It's VERY irritating. I'm considering RMA'ing (remove the heatsink and hope nobody notices I played with the heatsink), but I don't want to be without a sound card for weeks upon weeks, etc.

PCI bus is running at around 37 MHz, but (at least I put the heatsink on) I got the same problem at 33 MHz.

Haven't tried switching slots. I'll check the IRQs. Forgot about that. Dunno if I'll be able to switch though, because of that heatsink in the way. I suppose I could always remove it.

It happens in Q3 and UT (the only two games I play) and well as previously when I played a CD (digital connect from CD-ROM to sound card). Haven't tried CDs lately. Haven't had a problem with MP3s though but I haven't played them much off my computer so I really can't say.

Eug, what OS are you running? The reason I ask is my SB Live has been doing that in some games and in Quicktime movies but only in Win 2k and with Liveware 2. I have to get Liveware 3 and see if that solves the problem. I have no problems whatsoever in Win 98SE with the same games or movies. It has to be something with the drivers that I have for 2k.

I get that in Windows 98. I haven't played my games in Windows 2000 lately so I can't remember if I get the same problem.

The SB Live is on IRQ 5 and 9.

On 5 it shares with PCI Steering (which is OK) and with USB (which is also OK).

On 9 it's alone.

So, it's not an IRQ conflict.

I'm running Liveware 3 in Windows 98, but I'll check for newer updates (don't remember seeing any).
