D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655 $85 after coupon and GC at Circuit City

This is the cheapest price I have seen on this router, and it involves no rebates. If you have a $15 coupon to Circuit City and do not mind getting a $20 gift card for a future purchase, you can get this high-end router for $85.

D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router

$120 router - $15 coupon - $20 gift card = $85 net + tax

There are a lot of "ifs" involved with this posting.

Explain the $15 coupon.

And a $20 gift card does not mean the router is $20 cheaper. Am I playing $20 less to get the router? Um, no.

If ya had a 30.00 coupon, it'd be $70.00!

The $15 coupons are well known. They're laying around by the cash registers at just about every Circuit City location (some have them stacked by the door as well).

And yes, receiving a $20 gift card does factor into the deal.

This is a good deal as its the cheapest I've seen this router as well. So quit threadcrapping.

That is hardly threadcrapping. The $20 gift card factors into the deal, but I'd like you to explain how that equals getting the router for $85. Unless you can immediately redeem the gift card to pay for the router (which we all know you can't), then you're still paying $105.

Can you immediately redeem a rebate? No, but you factor that into a deal. The net of what the router will ultimately cost you is $85 + plus tax. Yes, $20 of that is in a gift card, but I'm willing to guess that at some point in your life you'll find something else to buy at Circuit City. Even if you can't, you can sell the gift card for $18ish.

And you are absolutely threadcrapping, and you're absolutely wrong on what you're even threadcrapping about. Give it up. Go home.

...And even at $105, it's a great deal. DIR-655 is right up there with Apple's Extreme. It's a fantastic router. I do suspect most would have use for a $20 GC for a future purchase, but that's just icing on the cake.

He should have explained about the coupon to start with. They're so well known that shingletingle didn't know about them and neither did I. And the $20 GC means you get the router and an ADDITIONAL $20 in merchandise for $105 (after the oh-so-well-known coupon). A more accurate title would be "D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655 $105 (after coupon) plus get a $20 GC." And that isn't even a deal unless you have access to a coupon.

Slick and Pabster stepped in on my behalf, and they did a very good job. My original post clearly said:

1) "If you have a $15 coupon to Circuit City..."
2) "...and do not mind getting a $20 gift card for a future purchase..."
3) "...you can get this high-end router for $85".

Obviously, shingletingle
1) did not have a coupon
2) minded getting a GC
3) and, moreover, did not have a need for the router.

I am going to leave it at that, and not mention the other displays of ignorance I have seen in this thread.

Sorry fellows. I haven't been to a CC in 10 yrs. and left my tin-foil hat in the other car.

You can see a few of us had no idea what you were talking about.

I'm willing to bet we weren't the only ones to think WTF.....just the first to say it.

I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but it sounds like some may have missed their meds.

Still a good deal, but it should read:
$120 router (and $20GC) - $15 coupon = $105 + tax

Still not sure it's enough for me to replace my DD-WRT'ed Buffalo and 5-port Gig switch.... I really like the DD-WRT Firmware.

Morpheux, I actually picked up one of these routers last week at Best Buy to replace the exact same setup you have (Buffalo w/ DD-WRT and gigabit switch), and so far so good. The D-Link firmware is pretty robust and has been quite stable for me. As far as stock firmware goes, this is (so far anyways) the best one I've encountered.
