D Link Router reconnecting

Using a Dlink wireles router and a dlink pc card and wpa psk. Everytime I restart the laptop i have to "rescan" and log onto the network. Is this normal? Sometimes I have to rescan 2-3 times before I connect. Is there any way I can set it to reconnect automatically every time I boot up? My desktop which is connected to the router via a CAT 5 cable connects automaticaly at every boot up.
