D-Link or Netgear Wireless Router?

I'm ready to buy a wireless router and have it narrowed down to two routers.

1. D-Link DI-624
2. Netgear WGT624

Both share similar features and can be had for about the same price right now. My main concerns are range, reliability, and speed in a mixed environment (802.11b, g, super g). I know that the d-link has an easily detachable antenna. Is the same true of the Netgear router?

Can anyone help with this decision?

TIA

Well, I don't have much router experience, but I have had a D-link and a Linksys router, and the D-link was TERRIBLE, I would not reccomend that brand to anyone. The problem I had with it was that it would overheat at least once a day, forcing me to unplug it, let it sit for awhile, then plug it back in. Not exactly what I would call "reliable".

The linksys on the other hand has been superb without a single hiccup so far.

Soo...if I had to choose it would be the Netgear by default.

I've owned both a D-Link and a Netgear wireless router (also a Linksys router). The only one of the three that I actually wouldn't recommend to anyone is (and yeah, I'm sure it'll go against most of the people on this board) the Linksys router. I think my favorite was the Netgear router, but I've never had issues with my D-Link (current router).

Netgear from my experience is the better choice. For me it seemed like it was easier to setup and from what I've heard had less problems.

I have a feeling that my particular D-link router model had problems; it was the 704p. It had a number of known issues, including the overheating that I was experiencing.

D-link is probably fine, but I stay away from them just cuz of my bad experience.

I have had zero problems with my Netgear MR814 Wireless Router, of course I have never had a problem with my D-Link wired router either. I do like the configuration of the Netgear a little better than the D-Link, but of course I can only comment on D-Link's wired configuration as I have never owned anything wireless of their's before.

My vote is for the Netgear because as soon as my new Powerbook gets here that is the one I will be getting!

I set up a DI-624 for a friend myself, and it worked great. I just don't know about the netgear. The SPI feature seems interesting. If I knew what kind of range it had, I would jump on it.

I've got a di-624 rev c and a dwl-g650 rev b4, latest firmware/drivers and they run great. Thats the only wireless gear that I got, so I can't comment on how they work in a mixed environment, but they work great running static super g mode. Note that you can only use channel 6 when in super g mode. Lucky for me, no one near me runs any wireless stuff to interfere with my signal.

I read about some rebooting problem with the D-Link 624 and nearly no problems with the Netgear WGT624. I gonna order the Netgear Router :)

I have a NetGear MR814 V2 Wireless Router and so far it has been 100% reliable both as a router and the wireless. It has been a lot more reliable than my Linksys that it replaced. The Linksys would disconnect the connection to my DSL and sometimes totally lock up needing a reset. Sometimes it happened a few times a week which got annoying. Also the NetGear I have and the one you are looking at both have an SPI Firewall which offers a lot more protection.

I second that, all Linksys routers I've had were big headaches. On the other hand, both D-link and Netgear routers that I've had had never given me problems.

I have experince with all three and ive found the D-Link and Netgear routers to be more reliable then the Linksys. I have adelphia cable modem and I need to reset the router beacuse it drops the interent connection all the time...really frustrating and i had a different linksys at my old apt and the same deal. My experince says anything but Linksys..
