For 2.4ghz: Should hold 300 or 270 mbps all day long and not drop to 144/130mbps after a period of idle time.

for 5gh : should hold 300 or 450 (or 600) all day long without dropping down.

That's a good test.

If you use it for routing instead of a pc - then make sure have the most ram (128+meg) those 64meg will barely cut utorrent without crashing.

<64 meg and utorrent = crash every day

The Netgear Wireless-N Router WNR2000 offers decent throughput speeds, excellent range, is easy to use, and has an affordable price. It also comes with a free, comprehensive Parental Control feature

I've owned the DIR-655 since it came out in 2005 or 2006 (IIRC). It has been rock solid for me and I've never had to reboot it due to a lockup or anything of that nature. The main downside with it is that it doesn't have a 5 Ghz band. If you go for a dual band router, make sure that it has two radios which can be used simultaneously; IIRC, the DIR-665 has 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands but only one can be used at a time. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this point.
