D-Link DI-713P, ORINOCO extender Antenna and Turbo Gold

the hardware i'm thinking of working with:

D-LINK SYSTEMS Wireless Broadband Router DI-713P as the AP
ORINOCO Indoor Range Extender Antenna
ORiNOCO Turbo Gold 11Mbps

my question are:

1. can the indoor range extender antenna be attached and used with the Turbo Gold card? Or does it have to be connected to the AP?

2. And if so, how well will this antenna work outdoors being that it's called an "Indoor Range Extender"?

3. Is there another antenna that I can easily attach to the Turbo Gold card?

4. What about the D-Link DWL-650 Wireless PC Cards, is there any way to extend it's range?

Most of Entry level Wireless hardware has Fixed Antenna. Some companies sell separate Antennae, but usually don?t work with the entry level Hardware.

Even if Antenna can be made (somehow) to fit, it does not mean that impedance wise it is a good match. You have to find a pair Antenna Router or Antenna Client Card that the spec. clearly states that they fit.

If you want to stay with low cost entry-level devices, you probably better off buying USB Wireless Client rather then to buy an Antenna.

ORiNOCO USB Client Adapter - Gold.

Be Careful The rule of ?Plug it if the Plug Fits? isvery deceiving when it comes to Antennae, (Standing Wave Ratio problems).

The way to really extend the range is to buy a combo like the SMC SMC2682W Bridge/AP, and SMC Hi Gain Antenna.

Or to have fun with one of these projects:

Wireless Networking Reference - Antennas / Range Boosting

the orinoco cards have a jack for an antenna. Most likely if it is an orinoco antenna it will have the proper connector to fit in the jack on the orinoco card. The indoor designation probably has to do with weather-proofing. Radio waves are not aware of "indoors" and "outdoors". I do not believe the dlink cards have antenna jacks.
