So this is my first experience with a hardware firewall. I heard all these horror stories how you have to open this port, that port, set DMZ, setup virtual server settings. So I get this thing hooked up, release my IP, get a new one from the switch. Connect to the box, change the settings for an @home connection, and boom, im on surfing. Wait wasnt I supposed to set something to allow that?

So I go to email and think ahh here comes my nightmares, boom, email comes and goes just fine. Hmm

OK, OK, my news reader (I use xnews) wont work, I know it, Well, it took a couple seconds to get started, but, its fine!

NOW here it comes, Quake3!!!!
Well gamespy pings ok, let me just pick a server here, uhhm, it works!?

So I get the feeling im not behind the firewall or something so I check my Zonealarm Log, not a hit for 24 hours.

WELL, I though this was supposed to be hard, but no probs what-so-ever.

Well I do have one. @Home software has infected my Inet Browser. Under connections/configurations it says "http://proxy:8080" or something like that. And it keeps me from connecting to my Switch setup. So I delete it and uncheck it, but every time I come back to IE, its right back.

How do I get rid of this setting !!!!?????

Assuming you are running W98, restart in "Safe Mode", uncheck it, and restart in "Normal Mode".

It should be gone now.
