D-Link DI-614+ to DWL-520+ problems

I recently sold the combo above to a customer who is now complaining that internet access is really slow and pages even timeout over the wireless connection. The connection to another PC hard-wired to the 614 switch works great he says. When I originally installed the products, I remember that the signal showed as "Good" in Windows XP and the devices sync'd at 22mbps. He says that the signal still shows as being good. All of the custom wireless settings are set to their defaults in the 614. Any ideas on what this problem may be? Any good recommendations on changing any of the factory default settings? Since the 520 is a PCI card and the antenna is behind the PC could there be a signal problem even though Windows says the signal is good? Thanks.
