D-Link today introduced its easy to install DWL-920 11Mbps USB Wireless Home Network Kit. The DWL-920 is a Digital Home Solution that makes networking more accessible to the home user than ever before. The D-Link 11Mbps USB Wireless Home Network Kit provides the easiest way of connecting PC?s together without having to remove the cover of the computer or running wires from PC to PC. The wireless network kit will allow the home user to share MP3 files, digital photos and other media files as well as printers, scanners and other peripherals.
This incredibly powerful network starter kit was carefully designed to give Home Users a chance to get into Wireless Local Area Networking with State of the Art technology at an affordable price. The DWL-920 USB Wireless Kit strictly adheres to the IEEE 802.11b wireless networking standard for maximum interoperability. The D-Link 11 Mbps wireless network is faster than existing proprietary wireless networks, the typical network found in retail, and much faster in performance than those existing legacy wireless devices and networks.

The kit contains everything a user will need to build a high speed 2-node wireless network: two DWL-120 11Mbps USB Wireless Adapters, two USB Cables, one DWL-1000AP Wireless Access Point, Driver Software for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and NT 4.0, User Manuals for each product, 5V CD 1.5A Power Supply, Power Cord, 3.5" Access Point Management Utility Diskettes and an HTML Installation CD with a special "Networking Basics" section?designed to inform a network beginner with the basic networking information needed for easy installation and configuration. The two DWL-120 USB Wireless Network Adapters in the DWL-920 USB Wireless Kit allow the home user to share hard disk drives, DVD/CD-ROM drive, Zip drives, printers and provides shared access to an analog, Cable, or DSL modem for Internet access. The network adapters are fully mobile and seamlessly roam from access point to access point. The DWL-120 USB Wireless Network Adapters will operate in 2.4 Ghz Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) and are designed with the ability to operate in 3.3V or 5.0V DC. In addition, the DWL-120 adapters use a 40-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) Encryption for a secure network connection.
The DWL-1000AP Wireless Access Point included with theDWL-920 USB Wireless Kit extends the reach of the network communications capability throughout the home and up to 900 ft apart. The access point also provides Infrastructure as well as Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum(DSSS) operation for wireless networks delivering transparent bridging and roaming capabilities for wireless nodes.
