D-link and Linksys work together?

Well, I have a Linksys gaming adapter for my playstation two in my room. It picks up internet from a D-Link router from my computer. It goes through one wall. Games I play are very laggy a lot of the time. Will there be a better connection if the the router and the gaming adapter are the same company?
 
The reason behind standards is so everything will operate togather. To tell you the truth for my online gaming i wouldnt trust a wireless connection anyhow. Sure wireless is great but for something like gameing or file transfers i would stay hard wired.
