D-Link adsl Modem Prob`s

🙁 I just installed a "D-LINK 320g adsl modem & hooked it up USB with no other devices attatched to this hub.
WinXP-clean install withought sp`s.
I get an icon in the tray saying "safely remove hardware".
Earlier I had WinXP with SP2 & got shut down, & or, no connect, no ping anywhere, or BSD. Spoke to the ISP who supplied the gear, to no avail.
Spoke to "D_LINK", to no avail.
The modem is working at present with no SP`s.
Anybody got any clues?
where are U ppl when someone needs assist?
