I just setup the D-Link 804 Gateway/Switch. It is performing rather poorly. It does rout properly, but the connection is very very slow compare to when I used a software router (winroute). For example, www.google.com's front page take 1 second to load with WinRoute, but takes 5 for the DI-804. I upgraded the firmware (4.60) and even turned off firewall (run in DMZ), it still doesn't help.
Second thing I noticed very strange, when I run the DI-804, the IP it grabs is different from when I connect directly to the Cable Modem. Through the DI-804, the IP is x.x.180.254 with gateway x.x.180.1. When I bypassed it, the IP the PC grab is x.x.181.14 with gateway x.x.181.1. I have tested a few times with the same result.
I am running win2k SP2, ISP is Road Runner. Any help is appreciated!
