Not sure if any of you guys have opened up this wireless router, but inside is just a wireless PCMCIA network card connected to the antennas. I just thought that was kinda sweet since I figured there would be more to it than that!

Just an observation!

EDIT:

I have so many plugs that I accidently plugged the scanner one in the router (identical ends) and it didnt turn on, then I noticed it was the wrong plug and it started emitting electical burn smells :( Now it wont turn on at all. Amazing enough, there is no "warranty void if removed" sticker on the case if you remove the cover. I have even hit the reset button but nothing. I have noticed that it smells all over, some areas are stronger than others, mainly the plug has more of a burn smell. What a waste of $70!

The Wireless part of almost all Entry Level 802.11b Hardware (Routers, Access Points, USB, PCI, Cardbus) is PCMCIA Card with interface circutry.

yea, a picture would be nice. i'm getting you voided your warranty by opening it though. good to know. i like the router. only had a few minor problems with it. but now it's working flawlessly with my laptop and my roommates laptop and desktops.

interesting. hope it wasn't the only router you had if you need to do networking cuz that would suck. but usually when you open stuff you lose warranty. at least with most of the stuff i have bought in the past. then again, i don't usually open the hardware, i just leave it alone if it's working. great router though. be careful if you have this router and an intel pro/wireless 2100 minipci card. if you use firmware 2.18 you will get loads of bsods. you need to use firmware 2.10 with it if you have the intel card inside for centrino laptops. something is wrong with intel drivers. loads of discussions on this.

i always buy the in store replacement plan because i can do just about anything to it and get a new one and let them deal with the manufacturer but i suppose this weekend will be ok... im jsut really curious and most people i tell dont belive me!
