I was hanging out in an electronics class because it was finals cause I didn't feel like leaving quite yet. I was there during 'their final' which is an absolute joke but that isn't the real point.. Basically I was on wikipedia looking at OC-3 talking to one of the students about it when I mentioned OC-768 and how it was 40Gigabits/s and some other kid I wasn't even talking to nor ever met came up and flipped a ******.
This kid was too funny and ridiculous at the same time, he asked me to repeat to him what I said which I did and he just shook his head and yelled that "ITS NOT POSSIBLE!" I'm like, yeah it is, do you know what OC3 is? He quickly responds 'no'.. Again I try to repeat to him that it's fibre optic and that it uses more than one cable but he just was enraged and insisted that it wasn't possible. He said "I know there is stuff faster than T3 but 40gigabits/s is impossible. It was so funny because I first I thought he may have knew something and was just a little confused but turns out he knew squat.
This lasted for 5 minutes afterwhich I mentioned that it was an internet 'backbone' to which his range settled and he merely replied, "oh, yeah thats possible".
😀
He thought I was talking about connections directly to my computer or something that I could interface with my desktop.. Right, when the times comes to where I can get an internet connection that is almost as fast as a PIII's bandwidth between its cache and the processor itself, we'll talk as I'd be very interested.. 😛
