D 930 vs D 940?

No. Why 9xx series anyway ? What are you running now ?

There are plenty of reasons to go for the Pentium D 9XX series. I would say it is not worth $200 to go from a Pentium D 930 to a Pentium D 940.

Hell no.

Overclock for free. Even if you dont overclock, its still a bad idea. 3.0GHZ - 3.2 will not be noticeable at all.

There shouldn't be a $200 price differance between the 930 and 940 anyway, there isn't even a $200 differance between the 930 and 950 at most places. The 940 only costs $212 total at newegg..

Uh, at Newegg, the price difference is $40, not $200. ($173 vs $213).

3.0 Ghz D930: $173
3.2 Ghz D940: $213
3.4 Ghz D950: $322

They all overclock roughly the same. With not so capable motherboards, the higher multiplier will be of help trying to hit higher CPU speeds. Stick with the 930. People are hitting 4Ghz with a lowly $110 805...the 930 ought to do just as well.

It is a 200 dollar price difference if you already have a 930 and want to upgrade, which I assume is the OPs question.

@akshayt-He's tryin to buy a cpu(as far as i can see)Not sell what he has!!!!Try reading the post for once!!!
@rlu929-Its not worthwhile to spend extra cash for a 0.2ghz difference.U can OC to that speed if u want or beyond that.
