My 2100+ is back up... swapping the ram didn't work... repairing didn't work... backed off the node & stats & reinstalled... then I needed to find the damned 810LMR drivers again! :)

Thanks for the welcome. I'm only using one computer for this projcet to see what it is all about. I would like to contribute to SARS mainly, is there a way to specify that I would just work on that target? Thanks. :)

When I reinstalled Win2K on my dually both instalations of D2OL were left intact. Even though setup said it was going to delete them. As long as you don`t reformat the drive D2OL will survive a reinstall of Win2K. The only thing deleted from D2OL were the shortcuts.

Not at the minute, no. And I don't think there's ever likely to be, but you never know :D

1. Unfortunately, there is no way to select your target. At the moment, you're as likely to get anthrax, as ebola or smallpox. (Targets, that is ;))
2. You might notice SARS is not in that list. I believe they said a few days ago it would be out in about two weeks.

See also one of the links in my sig for the TA D2OL FAQ. :)

mori, we don't want to leave.
Please let us run the project we want and you run the project you want :D
I think we're all just a bit too stubborn to leave, basically :D

Well... when I went to reinstall the Win2K, it told me that the drive was damaged and needed to be reformatted. Naturally, I ran a scandisk before moving forward and it reported no problems, so I don't know why Win2K insisted on a repartitioning and formating of the drive. No big deal as I saved off the node and stats files :)

That's good to know Geoff :D
Sorry the repair didn't work, it usually does for me...

Unfortunately for me, I formatted all my fastest machines and forgot to save the node files so now I have 20 nodes heh. Oh well, hopefully SARS will come into play soon. I'm expecting to get my AMD Barton 2500 sometime early next week. Hopefully that thing will be able to eat through these candidates much faster than my current 1800's :D I also have enough to replace my Athlon 650 with the 1800 that the barton's replacing...

Mmmm.. upgrades :D

On another note.. does anyone have pointers for overclocking? It might just be that the 1800 in my system is not a T-Bred Revision B, but it still wouldn't explain why it runs unstable at 1.53ghz (which is the frequency the chip is designed for) after I unlocked the chip. I can get it to post up to 2100, but it reboots as soon as windows XP gets to the logon screen.. same thing for 2000.. at 1900 (1.6ghz) it runs kinda slow and reboots sporadically. I'm using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe 1002.A BIOS w/ Crucial XMS TwinX DDR400 512MB (2x256MB). Any ideas?

Wish I could help... the majority of my crunchers are not geared to OCing... I know there is a hacked bios out there for the ECS K7S5A but I haven't had the time nor motivation to go out and play with it! :)

I was reading this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=39&threadid=1016487

I have pretty much the same setup and this guy's hitting 180mhz FSB.. i can't even post after 140mhz and even by upping the voltage to 1.85V doesn't seem to help stability at all... I have no idea why it's running so poorly. Oh well, I suppose I can just wait for my Barton to get here and not mess around with the settings. it seems to be running stable at XP1700... even though the chip IS a 1800... so confused.

Seems to be pretty good, I'll probably give it a whirl when I get back to school.

Unless you keep it refrigerated you probably wont get by with a high overclock AND running 24/7 at 100 percent utilization on the processor. It would likely lock up alot or fry.. IMHO.

I have my XP2000+ running as an XP2300+ on an ECS K7S5A board - running 24/7 at full load with no problems. :D

Of course the ram is PC3200 and the HSF is a Thermaltake Volcano so that helps a bit. ;)

I'll bet your heating bill is really low in the winter there Rich! AC must be a bitch for the other 8 months though! :)

Yeah, turns out the heating bill is lower than some other folks for the winter months. The furnace here might have an efficiency of 40% and my bill is still lower than some others. :Q I'm saving up though to replace it with a new 80+ or 90+ unit later this summer...another do-it-yourself project that have me owing computer labor to my HVAC friends for quite a while, but it'll be worth it. :)

Speaking of stats, anyone else having a hard time getting them? Or Candidates? Or am I just connecting at the wrong time?

They are down for the weekend. Something to do with new hardware I think.
First time in about 18 months they have let us know in advance, they even had it posted on the main page of the web site. :D :D
Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, ie, no more mushroom treatment :D
