D²OL: Stats & MMs 03/09 ** MARCH TO A MILLION **

** COUNTDOWN TO 1,000,000 **
At the current rate of 5332 candidates/day, we will hit 1,000,000 candidates in 30 days, meaning the momentous day will be Apr-9! Crunch on TeAm, and if you're not crunching, come be a part of history!
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂:Q 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂:Q 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂:Q

** SENGENT SERVERS **
I think the servers are probably still acting up. I've noticed some of my machines filling, while others don't. To get more food, close your engine, download this tasks.dat file into your SengentD2OL/D2OL/res directory, blow away the directories under your structs subdirectory (just to be tidy) and start the engine up again. After initialization, the client should go out for more food 🙂

** PERSONAL NOTE **
I'm looking for 3x socket-A mobos that can accept XP chips and use SDRAM... cheap is the important word here as they are just for the DC farm 🙂 I've got piles of K7S5A mobos that I am happy with, but I also have seen good things about a few BioStar mobos too. LMK what you have and what you want for it/them! 🙂

Positive Delta Daily means that we are outproducing that team. Negative means they are gaining on us. This number is derived from the difference between rolling last week productions divided by 7 to get a daily figure.

Thanks for the stats. Using the same file does not create duplicates. I was concerned about it. This thread on the D2OL forum clears that up. Link

ARGH ....

Every few hours now my engine stops doing anything .... processor usage goes to 0 and I have to kill javaw.exe and restart d2ol ....

Why?!?!?!?!?!?

Thanks Geoffs!!

I was just about to shut down the herd and switch to another project. I'm getting sick of these problems but maybe I'll sick around until we hit a million since your task.dat file gave me some new food, (and I'm not feeling so angry after being fed). If things don't shape up after the million milestone though then I think I'm off to another project.

Everyone feels better after dinner 🙂

There is talk of a strike... I personally don't have a problem with that, however the logistics for people with herds are complicated and time-consuming. I'll talk with hardCOREware and see what they want to do...

I kinda like self serve. I know I am good for a day and a half at least. Look on the bright side, the stats still work. It can be and has been worse. This is a piece of cake. Feel free to put yourself on the ignore list over at the D2OL forums, all you have to do is register. No post needed. Deez- are you overclocking? D2OL is less tolerant than SETI to it. I had to back off most of my rigs to run stable. Temps OK? If anyone registers at D2OL please give me a few stars in my rating. I noticed my drinking buddy Andy has five and I have none, what`s up with that? Andy has sent a message to the MORONOSPHERE, the only response he got came from Cleveland, what`s up with that? GO BOWNS!! Why do geese fly upside down over SENGENT ?

one of my computer stop at the initializing part for a few days now... i tried to reinstall...didn't help...any clues?

FWIW, I'm on strike from D2OL permanently. :disgust:

I'm home sick with the flu, but my work PC will get switched back to SETI when I do get back.

The client comes empty ( No work ) the servers are down that is why it is stuck. Normaly it would connect with the server to fetch work. You could try dropping the above task.dat file into your res directory. You have no file to replace, nothing to delete, it might work give it a try. Shut down the client first.

I just sent off an email to Sengents (hastly written of course). Here is a copy of that email. I'll let you know the response, if I get one.

EMAIL BODY:

My name is Rick Starr and I have been working on your D2OL since Dec 2001. We have a team effort going on with over 54 members. We have concerns that need to be address to all participants of D2OL.

My concerns are two fold.

1. There have been no candidates to download from the server since Friday night, 7 March 2003.
It is now Monday night, 10 March and still no candidates. The "workers" on this project have been
creating tasks.dat files and sharing them to force the server into giving candidates for processing.

When will someone look into this problem and address it in the D2OL forum?

2. Since Ken W. has officially left Sengents we no longer have support in the D2OL forum which,
under my understanding, was made to help address issues and solve problems brought up by the "workers". Ken W. does stop in, but his last visit was on 5 March 2003.

Will there ever be a dedicated person to help in the forums and pass information on to the developers when "workers" find problems with the servers?

For the most part, people that participate on the D2OL project find it a very worthwhile cause. However with numerous problems related to the Servers, particpatants are leaving in large numbers.

Numerous team members of various team's (me included) have invested very large sums of money into our pc's to support the project. We are making a "charitable donation" of our computing time to this cause and receiving very little in the way of support when the servers stop responding.

If you could please address these issues and reply back to me, I would be forever grateful. I have allot of members to answer to and I think they deserve answers from the source, not from me.

Regards.
Rick Starr
hardCOREware Team

Just registered tonight (Shane), replacing that file worked fine on the PC, but what about the MacOS X version? the damn thing sits on the other side of my desk here at work so i figured i might as well use it for something.

Is that a "DOH!!" 😀
I saw that after I'd joined the TeAm but I thought you had a reason for it.
John P (Mastertech I think) is the same.
PS, Looks like I got my vote in first 😀 😀
