Yup, the NHL should adopt the larger ice surface, the main reason why International is more exciting. After watching these games, watch some NHL games and notice how congested the ice surface seems.

Czech folks are SERIOUS about their hockey.
I went to a game over there and the fans had drums, horns, and fireworks in the stands with them, and 25 cents for big gulp beers.

it's all about the two-line passes...or lack thereof.

sweden always has someone by the offensive blueline.

4 points for Jagr in game 1. Now I know my Washington Capitals play terrible as a team. :(

The reason why international games are better is because the NHL talent pool is so diluted. In international play, you only have 6 teams comprising 99.9% of the best players in the world going at it. In the NHL there are 20-something (28?) teams, each with a few good players, but which are mostly made up of big guys who clutch and grab and play very defensively.

The NHL was much better back when there weren't as many teams.

just out of curiosity, how much do nhl tickets cost? i think the last time i checked, they were fairly expensive (at least compared to baseball). pure curiosity, since seattle only has minor league hockey :(

I agree the NHL should adopt the larger rink(this will never happen though, that means taking seats out of arenas to accommodate this, which venues will not go for), but I don't like the idea of no red line. I hate cherry pickers, constant breakaways isn't any fun IMO.

A decent ticket in Vancouver will run you about $80 cdn. Really good seats are over $150, and I think the best seats in Toronto are about $350...(these seats go in the first week of the season though...)
