Do you really think they have been destroyed? Well, check at ubid and there are 350 (600 yesterday) new and some refurbished units taking bids now.

Sorry, no link, auction link is not allowed here... :)

So you think you saved a big deal on these mice? Try not to cry to your mom if I tell you that I paid two of those for $0.88 each from OD B&M a while back.

What it has to do with CyberGenie?

Jump on this one; I already have a CyberGenie setup in my house (1 base unit, three handsets) and I even considered briefly bidding on a few extras.

I have it set up so incoming calls go directly to the CyberGenie "attendant." I don't hear a phone ring. The caller hears my greeting and is told to dial an extension (10 for me, 11 for my roommate, 12 for telemarketers). They dial 10, my handset rings. They dial 11, my roommate's handset rings. They dial 12, they go straight to voicemail :D

I haven't gotten a single sales call in the six months or so I've been using these things :)

I also changed my on-hold music from elevator to jungle.

This is a hot deal!

Their company went out of business so you are not going to get any software updates, support, warranty, etc.

Forget about $39 bid, some crazy guy bid all 600 at $39. Well, I am happy that I got one last time from OD, and really enjoyed it.

<< What was the OD price? Just curious. >>

This was one of the hottest deals of this forum. I think it was $19.88 or $29.88, could not remember exact figures, someone refresh my memory.

<< can i use the regular single handset without the multi base thingy? >>

You can use it with single line or single handset (which is what I am using), and also PC is not required if you don't care about some of advanced features like voice routing email to your handset.

If you connect it to a PC, the coolest thing is that you can check your email from your handset via speech reconization /text-to-specch technology.

Good Grief... I hate ecommerce - you always have to spend money to save money. I just purchased a base unit and 2 additional headsets.

Does anyone know if this will run on Windows 2000 ??

Also whats the difference between the "Cygnion/Ericsson CyberGenie 2.4 GHz,2-Line, Multi-User PC Cordless Phone System"
and the
"Cygnion/Ericsson CY-DG2400 CyberGenie PC 2.4 GHz
2-Line, Digital Cordless Handset 20 User "

Wow...Finally a U-bid related posting that was worth something!

I just picked up 2 of the multi-user kits for $49/ea and
three of the headsets for $29/ea...Not bad at all, assuming these
work to spec.

A few questions for those who have one of these:

1) What happens if the computer that's connected to the unit
loses power/crashes? Does the phone answerer also bite the dust,
or will it still pick up the phone and take messages? What,
exactly, is the computer used for, anyway?

2) What options are available for loading a custom message into
the machine? On-machine microphone only? Or can a message
be downloaded from a .wav on the host computer? What's the
sound quality like? Hopefully better than the digital answering
machine in my Vtech (Vyuch) VT-2960.

3) How do the handsets charge? Do they come with charge cradles
(like standard cordless phones), or do you have to plug them in
(like many cell phones)?

4) In general, do people like this system?!!

If the computer crashes the phone will still operate, but won't take messages (at least in my experience. I played with it for a week, then used it as a regular phone.)

I never did any of these but remember reading in the manual that it could be done.

They come with charge cradles. It was pretty cool, people would come in my dorm room and say "neat cell phone" and I'd say, "that's the room phone".:D

I liked mine, but knew that I wasn't using it to its full potential. A friend of mine has a base and two handsets, and uses one of hte handsets as a baby monitor for his something-month-old (I dunno how he hooked it up though.)

And uncle, I got my headset for $14.22.:D

I bid on one main unit and one spare handset. Hope I get them. Maybe I shoulda bid on more to put on eßay. :)

For those that already have them, what is the size of the handset like? Is it smaller or larger than my VTech 2431? I wonder if its 2.4GHz will interfere with my 802.11b wireless LAN, or interfere with my VTech phone?

Thanks for posting this deal. I always wanted to play with one, but didn't wanna pay $100 for it.
