somehow I got an error said that " cycling redundancy check" when I try to install a game such as Diablo II. It' slike during the installation i got that error. And my floppy disk that I 've been using for a lon gtime now suddenly doesn't work anymore and I got that error too. I tried to format the floppy disk but it said "cannot format ". I used a new floppy disk, and it worked and it can read and I can save data to it. But then after a couple of days, I put that floppy disk in again, andnow I got the error and there's no way I can format the disk , it's like the floppy disk got jacked up or something. What is going on ? cananyone help? thx.

Floppies can be that way. Could also be your drive needs cleaned or replaced.

A cyclic redundancy error often means that the CD is bad. try cleaning it with a clean rag and try again. Try it in a different drive to see if it works. If you still have problems, send it back to the publisher to get a replacement.

As for the floppy, it sounds like your drive may be going bad.

CRC:
Cyclical (cyclic) Redundancy Check - CRC is a mathematical technique used to check for errors when sending data by modem. If the CRC fails to add up, the receiving end of a data transmission sends a NAK (negative acknowledgment) signal. The data will be retransmitted until it is error free. CRC techniques are also used in tape backups and other streaming communications.

CRC is also used for I/O devices on PCs. If you are seeing this error on multiple CDs and your floppy it sounds like maybe you have a problem with your motherboard. Could be the chip that handles device I/o is going bad. You might try checking all of your drive connections and other connections on your motherboard. What type of motherboard do you have?

I have the Asus P4T533-C board that. I didnt have this problem before, until my comp case started to have static. Like whenver I touched the case, i got little shock. Maybe causeI h ave too much lights inside my comp? cause I bought some cold cathode lights and cold cathode fans and added them inside my case. Maybe that caused the comp to have static?

You getting that error only in the Diablo CD? Try installin something else and see if u get the error.

If you do, its a drive problem.
