Common misconception: your nads will be fine if your bike fits you properly.Originally posted by: asm0deus
but not for the gnads
Running is a quicker cardio workout because it's less efficient than cycling (if that makes sense). It's also cheaper and more convenient. It is, however, hard on your joints and you can't do 30mph.Originally posted by: Triforceofcourage

A lot of motion during running is wasted. While cycling, your legs only turn the wheels. During running, you have to push yourself forward and up, because you can't roll.Originally posted by: Aharami

care to explain further?
Less efficient means you work harder over a given time period and probably end up burning more calories. Running's the better deal if you have limited time. It's possible to burn upwards up 800 kcal per hour on a bike, but it's going to hurt....trust me.Originally posted by: Aharami

Basically all of your energy propels you forward on a bike. When running, you're propelling yourself up and forward....you're also supporting all of your own weight whereas you have three contact points on a bike.Originally posted by: L3p3rM355i4h

techinincally, a bike is a more effiecent machine than the human body. However, due to the fact that the human body is powering the bike, he is most likely wrong. Perhaps the operation of the bike allows more of the mechinical energy of the leg motion to be transfered to movement? I'm not a mech eng. major, don't ask me.

I meant feet/butt/hands; 3, 5, 6, or 7 depending how you break it down.Originally posted by: Jeff7181

I actually like running, it just doesn't like me. I was a speedskater as a kid and then a cyclist. My body freaks out when I try to run.Originally posted by: FrustratedUser

I just end up with incredibly sore legs and hips. I gave up on it after attempting to use it for offseason cross-training a few years.Originally posted by: Jeff7181
