Roommate has one, drives him nuts because the sensor is so height sensitive. He has a foam mouse pad, and if he puts too much pressure on the mouse, it skips because the surface isn't perfectly flat. It doesn't track on his polished wood desk either.

Seems kind of pointless to use a $130 mouse on a shit mousepad or bare surface, but good to know I guess. I'm assuming most people are using this thing on a proper mousepad, if not a gaming pad. Then again, seems like not many people have them yet. What games does your roommate play?

BF3 mostly these days. We did wow binges in the past.

I believe the mouse pad he's using is an XTRAC Hybrid, it's not a cheap pad, but it's not steel or glass. I don't think that mouse tracks on most exotic surfaces (so steel and glass mousepads might not work anyway), definitely read some reviews with that in mind before you buy.

That's a decent mousepad, but still partially cloth. Either way though, I'm surprised the mouse won't track on it to be honest. I have a hard surface (Razer Scarab), but I'll definitely try to talk to someone who is using it on a hard surface to see how it tracks.

its shape seems weird, looks uncomfortable, G500 is pretty sufficient imho.

I don't own one but I tried one out in store. Takes a little setting up/getting used to but the adjustment is pretty cool. Still wouldn't buy one though just my personal opinion but they look like someone took a mouse and took off the outside.

I use my RAT7 on a gaming pad, works like a charm.

To be honest, this is my biggest concern. If the RAT7 tracks well on a mat like the Razer Scarab (I think you said you were using a similar mat in another thread), then the MMO7, which is basically a RAT7 slightly modified with different buttons, but also upgraded with Cyborg's new 6400dpi dual laser, then I'm probably going to give it a shot, assuming I can find one in stock this week, preferably at amazon. I've got an amazon GC burning a hole in my digital pocket, and my G9 Laser is great, but it just doesn't have enough buttons for Skyrim and Amalur, and I'm sure I'll feel the same way for ME3.

It is overrated. The mouse is a quality build and can be fully customized. But the Twin-Eye laser that it uses has issues, and it is extremely expensive.

So after remaining undecided on this for a while, I decided to spend the Amazon gift cards I won in Super Bowl boxes (AND my Giants won...was a good night all around!) on an M.M.O.7. I'll post a review and/or some detailed comments this weekend, but for now, here's some (ok, a lot of) PICTURES!!

Some unboxing shots:

Some shots straight out of the box (including some shots with my G9 Laser for comparison):

Some shots of my custom config (textured palm rest about 3/4 of the way back, thumb rest flared out fully and about 2/3 of the way back, broad pinkie rest):

Some shots with the palm rest removed:

A close-up of the screw that is used to adjust thumb-rest tilt (I can’t believe they removed the tool adjustment on this part to “save costs” on a $130 mouse!):

DO NOT REMOVE THIS SCREW! Just give it a up couple turns, carefully set your chosen tilt, and then, while holding the thumb rest in place, tighten the screw.

A shot of the gold-plated USB connector and braided cable:

And finally, a couple of shots showing how insanely bright the LEDs are:

Also, for the record, I've been using the mouse on my Razer Scarab and have had ZERO tracking issues thus far. I believe they've fixed most of those issues with the upgrade from 5600 dpi to 6400 dpi.

As indicated above, a review and some more detailed comments to follow this weekend.

To the OP:

Would you recommend the MMO7?

Yes. Absolutely yes. I've been tweaking settings ever since I got it. Keeps getting better and better. It's not perfect, but what is? I'll post a review detailing the good and the (very minor but present bad) over the weekend.

More thoughts to come this weekend, but I've already swapped to a different palm rest and tweaked my thumb-rest depth and tilt. I've also set up my basic windows button "mode" (including volume on the horizontal scroll wheel and buttons for ESC, end, home, back, forward, F5, DEL, copy and paste, with buttons to spare) and "modes" for Skyrim and Amalur, all within a single profile. This thing is a modder's wet dream from a hardware AND a software perspective. 78 assignable buttons per profile (6 "modes" with 13 programmable buttons each). And you can save infinite profiles and change them on the fly with 2 clicks (one on the taskbar icon, one on the profile of choice). No onboard memory, so you can't take your profiles with you, but you can email yourself the files if you know you'll be using the mouse elsewhere. More details and pics to follow.

Ended up having to work all weekend, so never got a chance to put a thorough review together, but still planning on it when work calms down. Probably next weekend at this rate.

Only updates I have at this point are that I LOVE this mouse, and if the cost doesn't scare you away and/or you have some Amazon gift cards to spend, I'd grab one asap.

Hey, cytosin, almost a year later, what has your experience with the m.m.o. 7 been like?

I'm thinking about buying one, but I'm seeing a lot of people online that have had problems with it, but hardly any of them say if their problems have been fixed, if new problems have revealed themselves, etc.

I've had no problems at all. Still loving it for gaming and everyday use. I'm using it with a Razer Scarab hard mat, and I really love both. If I had to complain, the only thing I can come up with is that the feet tend to pick up some lint/gunk over time, but every couple of weeks I just wipe them off carefully and the mouse/surface combo is good as new. Still highly recommended!
