Hi,
I recently bought a Cybex KVM switch to use with my Logitech Mouseman optical (big, curvy, 4-button) mouse because I heard that they worked together. Problem is that when I run the mouse through the switch, windows detects a new mouse and incorrectly identifies my mouse as a Wheelmouse (3-button). Mouseware does the same thing. If I bypass the switch Windows (and mouseware) again detects a new mouse but it correctly identifies it as a 4-button Mouseman. When running it through the switch, the mouse works but I loose functionality of the thumb button because mousware/windows can't properly identify it. I've tried 2 other 4-button Logitech mice and they both get identifed as a 3-button Wheelmouse even though one of them had no wheel. I've also tried different cables/extensions without success. I even had a "lesser quality" KVM that I bought one week before I bought the Cybex but it does the same thing. That switch was the reason I bought the Cybex. Forcing the correct Mouseman drivers in windows either renders the mouse unusable or windows just turns around and resets the driver to what it believes to be the "correct" one. I all comes right back to the switch. Without it the mouse works correctly and with it, it doesn't.
I really want/need the functionality of the thumb button/mouseware combination for other applications.
Is anybody else using this combination successfully or, likewise, are there others with this same problem? Is this typical when using a KVM switch? Do I have a defective switch? If this is normal for Cybex switches or are there switches availalable that WILL (actual experience, not a guess please) work?
OK OK you don't need to answer all the questions. Pick one, I need your feedback. Feel free to answer a relevant question that I didn't think to ask too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-john
