Complaint time.

I signed up on April 20th, and their order form explicity states 3 business days to setup accounts. screenshot here. I went to chat and was told to be patient, the time was now stated as being 7-10 business days. When I pointed out that more than 7-10 days passed and asked for an answer, I was booted off of chat and not allowed to log back in. I simply stated they were wrong, regardless of which version of their setup policy they gave, and asked why they didn't change their policy if they couldn't live up to it. I was not disrespecful. I asked for a refund by email, and if I don't get one, will file a complaint with Paypal to get it back. I don't mind delays, but I don't like being lied to and then brushed off. C ya Cyberwings, I can get better service than that! Just a warning here to anyone wanting to sign up with them, they offer, imo, very questionable customer service.

I signed up for more accounts when they started their final sale thing too....but I believe at that time they said to expect accounts to be set up in early May.

wyvrn, had you taken time to read all the thread, you would have seen that many, many people have said it took 2 weeks or more to get the accounts set up. Once the accounts are set up, there have been no problems. I've been using them for over a month on one of my sites, and have had no problems. Because I've been so happy with my one site, I registered 6 more. I don't know why they kicked you off, but I wouldn't be so quick to give up $4 hosting just because you didn't like how they answered your query about setup time. That's just my opinion.

I'm prepared to wait for a while (a few weeks) since I bought 5 P5's and don't have any domains to host yet.

It took me 18 days. From April 12th sign-up to April 30th email, then a couple more days for the DNS servers to propagate.

And you thought they said the 50% off is only until 4/30/2002, or the last 1000 accounts are gone. Yet they are still running a special, despite the fact that they are setting up 150 to 200 accounts a day. So the 1000 accounts should be gone in 5-7 days, and today is already 5/5. Smell fishy to me. Anyone else?

That was contigent upon them changing to Reseller accounts only. They now decided to stay in the individual hosting business, so they extended the special. Pretty easy to figure out if you read their site...

Wyvrn,

Their customer service is not as bad as you seem to be think. I can tell you for a fact that the 7-10 days has been on their site since at least 4/3 (when I placed my first order). You probably just didn't see it when you placed your order.

When it comes to their chat, I seriously doubt that they purposely disconnected you. I've been disconnected from from their chat numerous times (especially when using IE) and it was clear that it was a problem with the system. Try using Netscape, it seems to be more stable (although not perfect as I sometimes have to ask my question twice before anyone else sees it).

Since getting my sites set up, they've been very helpful and I haven't had any problems. Good luck!

I was disconnnected, unable to log back in. Tried even Mozilla and Konquerer in Linux and I couldn't log back in. I was stubborn in demanding an answer (like I can be sometimes) and they didn't want a negative presence in their chat, so I was booted.

This is the thread where I first heard about CW. At the time I signed up, there weren't a bunch of posts saying it had taken 4 weeks to setup the account. If there were, I would not have joined as that did not fit my time frame.

Re-read my first post. First, their order form says 3 business days, as per the screenshot I took from their site YESTERDAY. Plus, it had already been 7-10 business days when I logged into chat. Then, they were saying an ADDITIONAL delay of 8 more days. When I asked why, none of the admins would answer. I was being ignored until I asked again, at which time I was told be patient, then locked out. Look, CW knew that they couldn't setup the accounts they were getting on their sale in the time they specified, so it's false advertising for one. And what gets me is exactly what treatment that people take just to get a low price. I guess the phrase 'you get what you pay for' rings true in CW case.

Also, one of the users in their chat was agreeing with my complaint, which the CEO of CW ignored. When I posted the link to the form that said 3 business days, his answer was "hey its a lower price than you will get elsewhere, so go ahead and leave". I don't think this is adequate customer service. EDIT: I did get my refund, as promised.

>>so it's false advertising for one<<

I think most of us who ordered knew what the timeline was for account setup. I for one will wait longer for $3.90 a year. I have one account with readyhosting.com also...of course that was set up quick becase they don't have the volume of orders at once. But comparing $99 vs $3.90, there is no comparason.

That part was easy to figure out. What I can't figure out is how they make money and was able to run 50% off special from March until yesterday. I guess this is not like Cyberrebates where you can lost thousands of dollars.

Yep, you'd hate to lose that $3.80 if the company goes under... :p

i signed up on april 20 th i think (in between sales :( ) and my account was setup may 1. i finally got my dns and what not changed over yesterday (was out of town) and all is working well. All in all, I have 4 hosted thru them (in various stages of the process) and am quite happy.

I don't think it's a scam but it's probably not the best business plan either, so am prepared to ride the wave as long as it's there, esp since other charge multiples of this price, and that's per month, not year, like we got. WTF, I've gotten lots of freebies.. I can risk $2.10.

Go with webguyz.ws

They say they get their server from CW but I'm starting to think they're just a re-seller (signed up for 2 accounts with them last night). But who cares?

Can't beat their current prices.

These are different plans. Supposedly, after May 15th, their setup times will be more like 24hrs, because these new more expensive plans are more like reseller plans. They include a lot more features (more domains, databases, transfer allowance - but less storage). I don't think you need a domain to sign up for them either, just when you want to start hosting.

It's still a pretty good deal I think, as "discount" hosting is usually $5-$6 a month (math: $60-$72/yr).

Buying several of the smaller packages would seem to be a better deal, but who knows how long those will still be offered..

I just got the account information tonight for two accounts I ordered on 4/18, so that must be where they're at right now for getting accounts set up.

I ordered 3 plans on 4/19 as well. If I don't hear anything within the next few days it'll be "challenge" time on the old credit card.
