Looking at the 70 reviews on NewEgg, 95% rate it a 5.

I know buying Home Theater cables like Monster Cable will not buy you a better cable, but is it the same with Surge Protectors? Meaning......... More expense will not buy better equipment?

I'd prefer just about anything over a munster cobble unit.

Cheaper surge protectors (every unit you're looking at), deteriorate with each surge to the point that they are simply power strips.
All the cheaper units are built more or less the same.
The higher the joule rating the better.

BTW, Don't put too much stock in Newegg reviews. All they tell you is that the unit worked when they plugged it in. They can't tell you how well the protection has been.

For cheaper type surge protection, I like the Isobar line (clamping voltage - 140v). At least the housing is metal and won't melt when the sparks fly inside... Free shipping Here
