It's a CH DVD 300 and I have it hooked up via RCA cables. It's supposed to play everything including mp3 and vcd's, but when I put a certain DVD in there, it just shows a directory structure with:

[folder icon]..
[folder icon]AUDIO_TS
[folder icon]VIDEO_TS

There's nothing inside the folders when I click on them, but when I put this DVD into my 4-5 year old Oritron DVD player, it plays with no problem at all.

Mine works fine. Got mine at Radioshack and just tested it right now. I stuck in Xmen 2 and it played. Then stuck in a "dvd shrinked" version of the same X-men 2 and it played... so you may have a defective player?

Maybe a DVD-R with that wasn't burned quite right. Maybe one machine is following the rules and the other doesn't care about the structure. It sounds like it thinks it's data and not video.

It's an Indian DVD with 2 full-length (2.5-3 hrs each) movies on it. The coverart and everything look legit but I'm fairly sure it's a copy.

The problem is that I can't tell what format the movies are in, but I thought maybe the folder names would give someone a clue as to what the format is or what the problem could be

Maybe because it's setup for a different region?
