Does anybody know about the Cyberhome DVD Burners for sale at BB? They are fairly cheap however I have never heard of that brand. Do you think it would be worth $49 AR?
Frankly, I'd go with the BenQ DW 1620 from TigerDirect for $59.99 after rebate. Yeah, they charge an arm and a leg for shipping (figure $9 or so), but even so, it's one of the best dual layer writers on the market presently. http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...1638&Sku=B145-8000
Why save $20 on Jimbo's laser burner super sale, which also has rebates?
Every review site from arstechnica, to andandtech, to hardocp, points at the NEC. To me that was the EASIEST component selection, when I built my computer 2 weeks ago.
Thanks for all the help. I have another question though. What happened to all the NON- dual layer burners? I dont burn movies that often so it would be better for me to get a normal one. However, nobody sells them.
Every DVD burner is dual-layer now. That's just how the technology has progressed. There is no need to worry... they all still burn single layer DVDs. It's not a wasted feature if they all have it now.
That's the bad part.... DL media is still like $8 per disc. But, since you're forced to buy a drive with DL capability anyway, you'll be ready for the future when the prices drop.
I'd be skeptical of buying anything Cyberhome. The DVD players that they put out are complete crap and only last a couple months. We get a lot of them returned at Best Buy. I can't say that I know much about their burners though. There's a possibility that they're decent.
