Are these things a good idea? I think the money is better spent on a Tivo. I use my a HTPC and a one hour show takes up 4 GB. So one DVD can only hold an hour. To get the 6 hours the quality must be VHS like. If it were a DIVX recorder, then we're talking. Why hasn't anyone come out with one of those?

I saw it on tv once, it is quite easy to backup home movie. And they kept repeating, "You can only backup DVD movie for personal use."

the only bad thing about this unit is that it doesn't ahve firewire inputs.
