Picked up one of the cybergenie phone systems a few months back at OD for about $30. I've been running it in stand-alone mode for the last month or so because I wasn't too crazy about how the software took me PC by the balls and wouldn't let go. :disgust:
While running in stand alone mode the phone is great. It doesn't do all of the hardcore functions the it is capable of, but I wasn't really using them anyway. I just wanted a crystal clear 2.4 GHZ phone. The other day I get a phone call but the cybergenie doesn't ring. I answered using my other phone. After closely inspecting the cybergenie I have a blank screen :Q . WTF? It wasn't off the recharger long enough for the batteries to go dead. But I put it back on just in case. The screen lit up with it's green backdrop and the battery meter was working, but still no "stand alone" message. I left it on the charger over night, but it still wont work. I tried disconnecting the battery and unplugging the base unit hoping that it would reset the phone but no-go. I should've known that $30 was too good to be true on this phone. @ months later it takes a crap on me and it's got no warranty 🙁 Oh well. I'm not sure how I'd fix it if it's possible. Could be time for the scrap heap for the old cybergenie.
