cyanogenmod destroying droid battery life?

It feels like I'm getting really terrible battery life post mod- about 5 hours of standby or mere 45 minutes of use (I charged my phone completely, browsed the web while waiting for a plane for 40 minutes and the battery went from 90% to 5%).

I'm not overclocking anymore so I'm baffled. The droid used to have what I considered spectacular battery life (coming from a palm pre), now something is killing it quickly. Is it normal for battery life to suck so much post mod?

Nope. Something is going on with an app or something. What does it show when you look at what's using the battery?

edit: One thing that happened to me was that a bug in Beautiful Widgets caused it to try to get a GPS fix while I was deep in the bowels of my office building. Killed 50% of the battery in an hour or two.

Battery life on my Droid running the latest Cyanogen is relatively good and my Droid is OC'd to 1.3 GHz. I agree with Spoon, something must be running or perhaps the ROM was glitched when it was flashed.

Go into settings on the phone then status. You should see a battery life usage thingy.

Thanks guys - Beautiful widgets was taking up 35% of my battery life... Which seems a bit much, so I uninstalled it. Also, my car charger (original Motorola car dock) doesn't seem to charge as fast as google maps uses battery power - I left the house with 100% battery, immediately docked my phone and used google maps for about an hour - unplugged the phone from the dock and the battery life was at 60%. Obviously, using the gps and screen on for an hour will eat up battery, but I assumed the charger would "keep up"

It shouldn't be doing that.

I've been unplugged for 6 hours. Beautiful Widgets is at 3%. Maps, which I used for all of about 2 minutes is also at 3%. Do you have it set to use GPS instead of Geolocation? Refreshing too frequently?

edit: I got lazy and purchased a Rocketfish USB adaptor for the car. It charges faster than GPS uses the battery.
