CWNA and CWSP (wireless) certifications, worth it?

I'm considering getting a CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) and a CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) certification. Right now I have a BS in MIS, but I'm stuck in a dead-end tech support job that I hate. I've looked into a few certs, and these seem to attract me the most. I'm interested in network security, but also in wireless in general. The cost for the classes and tests for both these certs would be about $3000. Are these desirable certs? I know having anything is better than nothing, but would these certs put me on a good track? Would someone with a BS in MIS, CWNA and CWSP be an attractive hire? I just want to get an idea before I plunk down the cash on something like this.

I'd like to make myself marketable, instead of being yet another person with an MSCE. Security in general seems to be the way to go, and wireless as well. I like how the CWSP combines the two.

EDIT: BTW Here is a link to the site about the certs if anyone is interested.

I've heard of it, but I don't know much about it. It seems promising, but you might want to do a search for CWNA or CWSP on job boards like Monster. That's one way you can tell whether a certification is worth pursuing; if employers are looking for it, then it may be worth looking into.

Whoa, my thread back from the dead! I'm still looking into this, but not sure yet. I have found a few jobs looking for this, but not as many as I'd like. Not sure if that's because it's not in demand, or the economy, or both. Also, I might be a little ahead of the curve with this. Looking for jobs that simply want people familiar with wireless technologies yields many more hits, so maybe people aren't familiar enough with these certs yet. I'm still not sure.

Hmm....correct me if I'm wrong, don't you need to do your CCNA first before these wireless ones?

As for network certifications, I'd go for CCNA to start with...you could alwiz build on them as the need arises...

I've never heard of it. I did get the Cisco Qualified Secialist (CQS) Wireless FE (Support) and CQS Wireless SE (Design). Coupled with some of my other Cisco Certs, it also gave me a "Public Access Design Specialist" and "Public Access Support Specialist."

Easy tests, once you understand the difference and use of dbm, dbi, and dbd (plus some Cisco product knowledge). I took 'em without Cisco training, without books, and pretty much checked out with the Bosun tests.

....but I was already pretty much a radio kinda guy ... waves is waves.

FWIW
