Your Career Services depot at your university should be able to help you out a lot.

Otherwise, pm me an email and I can send you an example of how I set mine up - not the best, and still under construction, but at least it would give you a sample CV to look at.

Your resume is an 8 second ticket to an interview, nothing more, usually less. Employers look at these for an average of 5 seconds. Pictures are not what they are looking for. If they cannot see key words that they want to see in 5 seconds, you resume gets the trash treatment.

yeah im not at university yet, got about 2 weeks. but they want people to have started on covering letters and CV's etc before you get back, so they can help you rather than do it for you

Even 5 seconds is generous.....

The top part should have your name and contact info. Right afterwards, possibly a career objective. Next is a summary if your skills.

You gotta make the summary as interesting as possible though. That's the mark where the human resource person will decide whether or not to keep looking at your resume or not

afterwards, your career experience. then schooling, then possibly other interests.

Its getting worse as the years progress. I guess typical "first glance" is exactly that. A 1 second glance. If something sticks out, they give it 4 more seconds, if more things stick out, they give it another 3 seconds and call you for an interview.
